lucky situation, and great move by howie roseman. lamar jackson fell to the end of round one, and baltimore saw the opportunity, and roseman got the right price. baltimore’s 2nd rounder next year is the real prize—and it’ll be a high 2nd rounder, because the ravens will not be a winning team in 2018.

the eagles could have taken derrius guice, josh jackson, or connor williams at 32—but with hurst, penny, and terrell edmunds going a little higher than expected, there’s good reason to believe we can still get our running back, slot corner, or safety of the future in the mid 2nd.

i correctly mocked dj moore to carolina, rashaan evans to tennessee, and lamar jackson to baltimore in a late round trade-up. let’s mock the first half of round 2:

33. Cleveland: connor williams
34. NYG: will hernandez
35. Cleveland: harold landry
36. Indy: isaiah oliver
37. Indy: derrius guice
38. Tampa: james daniels
39. Chicago: courtland sutton
40. Denver: nick chubb
41. Oakland: josh jackson
42. Miami: mason rudolph
43. New England: sam hubbard
44. Washington: justin reid
45. Green Bay: jessie bates
46. Cincy: dallas goedert
47. Arizona: martinas rankin
48. LA Chargers: maurice hurst
49. Indy: james washington
50: Dallas: christian kirk
51. Detroit: ronald jones
52. Philadelphia: ronnie harrison

with the top RBs off the board, the eagles can afford to wait a bit longer on that position. if we’re fortunate, the choice at 52 will be between a dynamic playmaking tight end in mike gesicki and a physical, run-stopping safety in ronnie harrison. i like the value and the fit with harrison, and he’s the guy i’m looking for in round 2.
